Cream of Wheat is a smooth, warm breakfast porridge made from finely ground wheat middlings or farina.
What it is?
Ingredients: Made from processed wheat kernels, giving it a very fine texture similar to grits but smoother.
Nutrition: Fortified with essential vitamins and minerals like iron and calcium.
History: First made in 1893 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
How to Prepare (Original Stovetop)
Boil liquid: Heat 2 cups of water or milk in a saucepan.
Add cereal: Slowly stir in 1/3 cup of Cream of Wheat and a pinch of salt.
Simmer: Cook on low heat for about 2.5 minutes while stirring often until thick.
Serve: Remove from heat and add sugar, butter, or fruit to taste. Instant packets can also be microwaved in about 1 to 1.5 minutes.
